Psychology Assessments for Adults and Young Adults

A psychology assessment might be helpful if you:

• want to understand why you're having difficulty with tertiary studies or employment
• suspect you might have a learning disorder and want to understand yourself better
• had an assessment when you were a child, and need a re-assessment to identify appropriate adjustments for university, TAFE, or other vocational studies
• have a disability and need advice about what supports might be helpful

It can feel stressful to reach out to book an assessment. Don't worry. At Bookmark Clinic our psychologists take the time to explain things clearly and answer your questions.

We work hard to understand what you need from the assessment so that we can make it a useful process. We're here to help.

The assessment process, including testing for Dyslexia and Intellectual Development Disorder has 4 parts, which take place on different days:

1.   online questionnaire and/or telephone interview
2.   in person discussion and then testing
3.   a feedback meeting to discuss test results (video or in person)
4.   a report sent to you around two weeks later

We don't use a one-size-fits-all approach. We work with you to understand what you need, and then plan our testing in response to your questions and concerns. 

We can focus on areas such as intellectual abilities, memory, focus and attention, planning and executive function, and mental health concerns. We may include standardised testing of reading, writing, and maths skills. 

Where relevant, we can diagnose Specific Learning Disorders such as Dyslexia, Intellectual Developmental Disorder, and other learning and developmental conditions.   

In the feedback session, we use plain, clear language to share what we learned through the testing. We work with you to come to a shared understanding about what this means for you and your life. Our psychologists will help you to identify strategies and interventions that will be helpful.

You'll have lots of time to ask questions, and you'll walk away with concrete strategies, specific resources and contact details for services that can help.

Our reports are written in clear accessible language, and include details about the strategies and services that we discussed in the feedback session.  

Fees differ depending on what you need and what assessment you've had in the past. 

If you already have a diagnosis and need a re-assessment to confirm the diagnosis and identify appropriate adjustments for tertiary studies, the fee will range from $750 to $950. If you require a more in-depth assessment, the fee is $1,950.  

Some variation to the pricing may occur, but we will discuss this with you in detail beforehand. Trust and transparency are integral to everything we do at Bookmark Clinic.
